Think left and think right and think
low and think high.
Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!

"What was I thinking?!?!"

We all have that song or poem we wrote when we were 12 or 14, and now we look back and say to ourselves "What was I thinking?" Well here are a couple of my "What was I thinking" poems and songs.

"Lake Water"
By Heather short.
Do you see the shimmer of the lake?
Do you see the dragonflies
that drink off its cool glass surface?

Do you see the lake water,
cool, clean, and crisp?

Do you see the fairies,
that ride the dragonflies?

Have you seen the lake at night,
as the moon reflexes off its surface?

Have you seen the trees glow or the fairies dance?

If you haven’t,
then you haven’t seen the lake.

"The Dance"
(Both)
I’m dreaming, yet I’m still conscious,
Of this one dance, where you hold me so close,
Of this one chance for you to tell me how you feel.
We meet for the first time, yet we’ve seen each other at school.
We’ve never talked before in our lives, yet here we are,
Dancing to this one song, yet here we are dreaming about how could get along.
(boy)
I think you are beautiful; your hair is nice,
I love the color of the dress.
(Aside)
What can I say to make this dance last forever?
What can I say that will make you want to stay here in my arms?

(Choirs)
I’m dreaming, yet I’m still conscious,
Of this one dance, where I hold you so close,
Of this one chance for you to tell me how you feel.

(Girl)
You look nice, I like your hair,
That tie is rather stunning.
(Aside)
What can I say that will want to make you want me forever?
What can I say to let you know what I’m thinking?

I’m dreaming, yet I’m still conscious,
Of this one dance, where you hold me so close,
Of this one chance for you to tell me how you feel.

(Boy)
Do you want a drink? Do you want a hand?
Will you hold it tight for the rest of your life?
(Aside)
Will you please not go, of this hand that you are holding,
Will you please say that your mine, for the rest of this night?

I’m dreaming, yet I’m still conscious,
Of this one dance, where I hold you so close,
Of this one chance for you to tell me how you feel.

(Girl)
I have to go, I’m so sorry, but that’s the way it has to be.
(Boy)
Will I see you again?
(Girl)
I don’t know.
(Boy)
Ok, I guess that’s how its gotta be.
I see her leave, my hand is along
I see her turn and wave; I may never see her again,
But do you know what I don’t really care,
because we shared something that will last forever.

(Girl)
Why did you let me leave, why did he let me let go.
I want him so badly, I need him badly,
yet here I am running away from the one that I love.
The one that I love ( music fades out)

(Boy)
I see her there, walking down the hall,
I don’t care if I make a scene; I just want her to know how I feel.
Well hello there, do you remember me, we danced last night, on a broken dream.

(Girl)
I remember you, I remember the dance,
I remember the way you held me close.
(Boy)
I have something to say to you right now,
I know it may sound funny but…
(Girl cuts in)
I love you.

"Into The Stars"
He comes up to me and asks me for my hand,
He takes me to the floor and holds me close,
He whispers in my “Can I take you away?
Away from this world?”

Let me fly, let me go away from this world,
Away from the city lights and noise,
So that it’s just you and me, and the stars.

We make are way to the deck, dancing the whole way,
We glide through others, who don’t see the world we do,
Who take what time they have for granted.

Let me fly, let me go away from this world,
Away from the city lights and noise,
So that it’s just you and me, and the stars.

We dance in circles, my dress drags,
The noise is behind us, with the lights,
And  the troubles of the world.

Let me fly, let me go away from this world,
Away from the city lights and noise,
So that it’s just you and me, and the stars.

Now we are here, dancing on the stars,
Talking to the moon, say goodbye to the world we lived in.
Saying Hi to the world that has come before us,
to the wonder of the night.

Let me fly, let me go away from this world,
Away from the city lights and noise,
So that it’s just you and me, and the stars.

We dance forever, he picks me up and we go sliding down to earth.
I have my head on his shoulder, he holds me close,
We try to shut the world out.

Let me fly, let me go away from this world,
Away from the city lights and noise,
So that it’s just you and me, and the stars.

He takes my hand and holds me close,
My breath doesn’t make a sound as he takes me to the stars,
As he takes me to the moon to dance.

Let me fly, let me go away from this world,
Away from the city lights and noise,
So that it’s just you and me, and the stars.

The stars rain on us as we dance into the day,
And then into the night again,
Never once did he let me go.

Let me fly, let me go away from this world,
Away from the city lights and noise,
So that it’s just you and me, and the stars.
