This year was a little different. We still had dinner on Chrustmas Eve but on Chirstmas day we had to shower and get ready for church after we opened presents instead of staying in out pj's all day. Which some of us did change back into our pj's after church but it just wasnt the same.
When I was thinking about my Christmas compared to others, we don't do things in a trditional way. We only get three presents from Santa, and we give our lists to him on his birthday Dec 6th (which comes from Holland) We have a Christmas Eve dinner instead. (I dont remember which contry that is from) and other things I can't think of at this moment.
Here is a glips of what we did.
The Dinner.
This was the making of the best fudge I have ever had. And it was my first time making it. It was soooooooo good, I ate sooo much of it. The recipe didnt call for pepermint, but I put it in anyway.
A drink I made with cranberry juice, Shasta, and rainbow sherbot.
Some sugar plums I made, for the first time btw. It was good, but I'm going to put dates in instead of the figs and see if it tastes better.
My mom usally makes just a turkey roast, but they didn't have any at the store, and she had a new recipe that she wanted to use, it has chives, lemon, grapefruit, and orange, you couldn't really taste the fruit because of how we made it. But it was fall apart in your mouth goodness.
Oh MY!!! I love this!! This is called danish pastry, SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!! I ate sooooo much of this. My mom doesnt make it very often because I eat so much of it. It is to die for good.
And then the ham, oh it was sooo good, lets just say all the food was good. And lets just say my mom is a really good cook. And everything she makes is amazing.
The Family
Meet my bro and sis, they were a little excited to open their pj's and exchange presents.
Katie modeling her pj's and exchange gift.
The Joy
I don't know what it is about Christmas but everything seem so joyful. Sure there is stress about finding the perfect present, and finding the right parking spot. But when you look at the big picture, the beauty all around, and family, the wonderful food, the presents dont really matter. I didn't get everything done before Christmas, I still have presents to buy and packages to send.
But this past Christmas was on of my favorites because it was the one year where I was the happiest, and I think that is the most importent thing of all, is to be happy.
