Under, Over, Under, Over...
I was at Micheals looking through there scrapbooking/journalisam books and I saw a picture where you cut up an old book page and a magazing into strips and then you weave them, it loook awesome, but when I got home to do it I found I had no old book or magazings to cut up, so I used scrapbook paper, I dont like it as much as the book showed, but it will do for now.
I'm going to go thrift store shopping and get some old books to cut up. Then I will have cooler pictures to show you.
This is the second one I made and its only in the up right hand corner, its took a lot of time to do.
This is the first one I did and I dont like it, I was playing with colors and what not, but it just didnt work out.

A Pasion.
I am working on a paper for school about Homemaking, and it has been really hard to figure out where to look for reasearch, also a way to tell people about it with out freaking them out.
I want homemaking to be views as a way of living and not as a chore. People think that homemaking is only about sewing and cooking, well its not. Its about time managment, orginizion, child care, self education. Where as cooking and sewing play a big part in the role, its not only about that. In my paper I talk about all of these and about gardening, house cleaning and so forth.
Anyway, while I have been looking for information to use I have come up short, and I was only doing research in the Pioneer area, and I relized that I wasnt looking in the right places, not to mention I was only using one website.
So I was sitting at the comp at 12am thinking of what to type in the search bar, and then the light bulb turned on. I knew what to search. I decided that I didnt need to stick with just pioneers that I should look at other areas of time where homemaking would be needed. So I looked at Civil War books writen about hommaking, or journals writen by woman living during the civil war. I found the most amazing books!! (though of course I havent read them all, but they sound amazing.)
One of which was written by Herrit Beecher Stowe (who, if you dont know, wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin.) and her sister Catherine Esther Beecher. I am only on page 26, but I think its worth reading. I'm super excited to read it. And I was able to get it free on my kindle, which is a added bonus. I was also able to find around 50 other books for free that had to do about homemaking, or poeple living during the civil war.
I'm excited to finally be making progress and learnign something new. I will keep you posted about the other books I will read.

A Hidden Treasure.
I have always been shy growing up, but once I started acting that changed. It was like a crack showed up in a shell, and you could kinda see the person inside.
Growing up I was made fun of a lot because I was homeschooled and my friends thought I was stupid and lame. When I tried talking to people at church activites I found that once I said I was homeschooled thy would stop talking with me and turn their back. So when I got older and tried metting new friends I would hold back. Infact I didnt want to talk to anyone, I would go to activities and sit in the corner and read a book, you would ask me a question and I would give you a yes or no.
This went on for years, and just recently I realized what was going on, so I decided to change it. In the past week I have gotten to know more people in a week then I have in a year. And I'm not saying this doesnt work for every one, but if you make up your mind to stop hidding then you will make new friends and be happier.
The way I changed was I stopped sitting in the corner, I talked and introduced myself to people I didnt know, I stopped bringing up the fact that I'm homeschooled (not that I'm not proud of being homeschooled it was just a fact I didnt bring up.) I stopped saying things that might offend people or that people might think I'm weird for. (not that I not being myself now, I'm jus toning down on how much i have done, enless they ask.)
Before I felt like a really big show off and snobb, and now I feel like myself, yes there are still times when I want to curl up in a ball and die (like last night) but I have had a lot more fun.

That Thought At The Back Of Your Head.
I have relized that I havent really posted a meaningful post in a couple months, and I'm sorry about that. I have been busy, but that is no excuse to ignor my wonderful readers.
I have noticed a trend in the best couple of days, there has been a great hallabalu about modesty. And it has been interesting to me how a lot of the blog posts and articals I have been reading have been written by guys, I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I'm just saying that we as woman need to show the guys what we think of modesty. Or atleast what I think about it.
When I get dressed to go to a party or a dance, I want to wear what is most flattering and I look the prettiest in. Well one day I was getting ready and I was thinking about how none of the guys I know look at me, they always look at the hot girl, and I was thinking about how this "Hot Girl" dresses. She wears short skirts and a T-shirt, but the T-shirt is cut really low and shes not wearing an undershirt, and I was thinking "Why don't I dress like that?" First off my mom would kill me, second it goes ageast the teaching of my church, and thirdly I just dont want to.
When I thought about the kind of men she was attracting and how they were acting around her it made me sick. I dont want to be popular or hit on because of how short my skirt is, or how low my shirt is, I want to be popular because I dont dress like them.
I went to prom last year, and I made my dress like always, and I made sure that the end of the dress came below my knees, and I got a lot of compiments on my dress by guys. They all said "Thank you for one of the only modest girl here." A lot of poeple were dumb founded that I made my own dress.

| Night of prom, I made my dress and my friends. |
When I was getting ready for that dance or party and I was thinking about the "Hot Girl" I was think of the men I want to attract. I don't want a guy who only tries to stare down my shirt. I want a guy who encrouages me to dress modestly and respectfuly.
I lot of girls talk about how guys should learn to controle their minds and not think dirty of them, but its very hard to do that when I girl is flanting herself infront of them.
Girls should dress accourding to how they want a guy to treat them.
You see it many times in movies where a girl slaps a guy or a guy moves his rear view mirrow to look at a girls legs, and then the girl gets mad at him. She has no right to be mad if she is wearing a skirt that short. Because she is telling the guy to look, and then getting mad when he does.
Whenever I am around a girl not dressing modestly it makes my uncomfortable, it makes me want to go home and shower because I now feel gross just being around her. I understand its hard right now to find modest clothing, but that just means you arent looking hard enough. You can take a immodest shirt and make it modest, just add a nice t-shirt underneath or a tanktop. There are many ways to fix it.
I have given some thoughts on the matter of modesty, and I have a lot more to share, but I want to hear what you think, either a guy or girl. I want to know why you think people should dress more modestly.

A Picture a Day Keeps The Doctor Away!!
The saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" is a very true statement. But thats not what I wanted to talk to you about. I have noticed that I dont post very often, so I have decided that I'm going to post a picture a day, not get behind or not post I will do this, and I will do it for atleast a week.
The pictures that I post will all be pictures that I have taken. In an effort to get my out of the house more and taking pictures, and then I get to come home and share those pictures with you!! How luck you are!!

When I showed this picture to my friend he asked me if it came with the camera like a sample picture, I said no that I had just taken it earlier that day. He was shocked and was sure that I had edted it on the computer, but I asured him that I hadn't.

Up On The House Top!!
As often as we can my mom makes gingerbread houses. She rolls them out, cuts, and bakes them. It takes a week for the daugh to be ready to cut a bake. Its very hard, therfore we only do it every two to three years. It has been awile and so the family was shocked and suprised to find out that we would be able to make them this year.
I have a friend who came over for dinner the night that we made them, so I put him to work rolling out the daugh so we could make the houses.
I found out that my friend Tony had never made a gingerbread house before so I made sure he was able to make one.
Here is what they looked like.
Putting the houses together seemed like it took hours, we have to hold the house till the frosting dries.
The building the houses didnt take long, it was the decorating that took forever
The Finished Houses!!

| Katies Wild house! |

It was a lot of fun making these and I hope you enjoyed looking at them!!
