Absurd Obsession!

You all know my absurd obsession with books right? You don't!! I am shocked!!

Well I have a slight absurd obsession with books, the biggest reason for this is I love the adventures that come alive in books. My mother taught me to love books and reading, I have many friends who were pushed into reading and now they hate it. I love it!!

My mother never pushed me, or if she did it was very little, which I was very glad by, it taught me to seek out my own education, and many things I wouldn't like if you did push me. She always encouraged me do new things and to study.

Well now that I have moved to a new city I have been wanting to get a library card. I believe you don't need to go to school to get an education, you can go to your library and read. That is how Tomas Jefferson got his, George Washington and very little education, but he was willing to learn, and if he didn't know something then he would find a book on it.

I was talking with my hubby today about education and wanting a library card, he said "When you finish the books you already have, that is when you can get a library card." Challenge accepted!! I will keep you posted with the books I read and how many I have left for that library card!!

My sister and I are super close, so we did a special dance just for the two of us.

I am Thankful for....

...The chance I had to carry a baby for a short period of time. That's right, I miscarried.

The baby died at 10 weeks, and we didn't find out till I was 12 weeks a long. It looks like the baby's heart didn't form properly and the baby died of a heart attack, it is very sad and we morn his passing. But I know it was meant to be this way.

Instead of blaming God, I am rejoicing in the time I had with the baby, I am rejoicing in the fact that the baby was taken before the baby came to the earth, that the spirit doesn't have to be trapped in a broken body. I am thankful that that spirit has a second chance to join this world.

I keep asking God what He wants me to learn. What He wants me to take from this. I believe there is no use blaming God and filling your heart with anger, when you can turn to Him and thank Him for the time you did have.

This trial has made Matthew and I closer as a family, and I know it has made my testimony grow so much.
I am also thankful for the out pouring of love that we have received from both Matthew's job and mine. The love we have received from teachers and friends.

As I was on my way to work today I was thinking about service and how great we have received, and it made me stop and think that maybe this was given to us as a opportunity for some else in need who needed someone to serve. Maybe our trial and hardship was a answer to someones else's prayers.

I am sad I won't lie, but having the gospel in my life has made it 10xs easier.
I Love the Lord and all He has done for me. I couldn't thank Him enough.

I love my husband and the love he has shown me through our trials. Everything will work out, if we trust in the Lord and fallow what he says. Amen

Popeye the Sailor Man!! (toot, toot)

I was reading the book Anne Frank (which I will talk about later) and she said something like "I am going to eat so much spinach I'm going to be like Popeye."

That took me back because I thought that Popeye was created in the '50s. My curiosity got the best of me and I stopped reading and got to work looking up information about Popeye. Here is what I found:
  • The comic was called Thimble Theater
  • Popeye wasn't the original main character, it was written about Olive Oil and her boyfriend Harold Hamgravy
  • Popeye didn't appear till it't tenth year, and only as a minor character, but was loved so much the strip was eventually named after him
  • In the comic Popeye is Swee'Pea ward, but in the cartoons he loves Olive Oil, and Swee'Pea never shows up
  • Popeye was created in the '30s, it was shown in one newspaper called New York Journal, and soon spread to many other newspapers.
  • The artist and creator of the comic was E.C. Segar, after his death the comic was passed to his assistant Bud Seganduf.
  • Many (a little less then half) of the original characters never appeared in the cartoon, and the comics were more complex and had a lot more detail then the cartoon.

I grew up watching Popeye on my grandmothers T.V. when I would visit for the summer. I would recommand that you find it somewhere and watch it, you haven't lived till you have seen Popeye!!
