Easter

I made this for my Grandma, excited for her to see what she thinks of it.

Its made out of a egg holder, I even made the cute pins out of beads and quilting pins. I even made  my sister and my mom one because they are so cute!

Baby Quilt

Don't worry I'm not prego, my Husband and I just want to get a head start on the baby quilt so that its not a last minute project, be we can take our time and enjoy it.

We are doing a pattern made for Heritage Fabrics, its a little shop here in Ogden, Matthew and I both love it. Its super cute and has a lot of wonderful fabric.

We want to make each child a quilt, all will have black and white, but a different complimentary color. This one is black, white, and line green. We got minky for the back, and then a solid white for some consistancy. We love the different patterns we have been able to find in black and white, there are many others that we want to get, but don't have the money for right now.

The next one we are going to do either yellow or red. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Time with Grandma

A couple weeks ago I was able to spend time with my Grandma in SLC, we went fabric shopping, out to lunch, and just got to hang out. It was really fun. We were in the sewing room and I asked her a question, well that question turned into a sewing project that grew into a throw pillow.

Like the other one, I am waiting to get a pillow form so I can finish it. I love this one, its all made with Aunt Grace fabric, which you can find here http://www.schoolhousequilts.com/ I love the fabric and I can't wait to get more.

I just bought a yard of this From the site. Be careful you may find yourself falling in love with some of these.

I don't know what I will do with it, but it will be adorable no matter what.

Have a wonderful day!

Midnight Snack

Last week I couldn't sleep because I had this Sewing Idea in my head and it just wouldn't go away, so before I went to bed I sketched it out and colored it all nice and pretty. I was so excited to get started on it the next day that I woke up early and went straight to work.

The aspect behind this pillow is to create what looks like a weaving of the fabric, I don't know if I accomplished that or not but I sure think it looks cool. This was my second time machine piecing and I still have a lot to learn, but each project brings on new challenges.

I hope you like it, the fabric are fun and cheery. It isn't finished yet because I need to get a pillow form before I put the border and back on it. I want to make sure it fits a pillow so I don't need to stuff it with fiberfill.

It took an overall 7 hours to complete, with a small break to make doughnuts for breakfast, then it was back to work. It wouldn't have taken me that long, but I measured wrong and I had to re-cut them.

I am going to take the dark red fabric and use it as the border to bring everything together.

Hope you like it!

Fabric

On Wednesday I had the wonderful opportunity to go fabric shopping with my Grandmother, it was so wonderful. And we spent almost the whole day together, it was a lot of fun. She showed me a lot of sewing tricks that I didn't know about, she taught me how to machine piece. It was really fun.

Later Matthew and I went fabric shopping and got fabric for the baby quilt we want to make (no I am not pregnant) and got some fabric for my business, we looked at a lot of different fabrics for one of the months and I am happy with the choices I made, but I am not sure how it will turn out when they cut out and finished.

I wish I had pictures to show you the fabrics, but sadly I don't. Also there is this awesome site called Spoonflower that you should totally check out, it has awesome fabric and you can create your own fabric, which is what I did. Once I get it I will post a picture of it, I am super proud of it.

Opps.... My Nerd is Showing

I am a huge nerd, and sometimes its hard to control my excitement for things I am learning or new information I have come across.

For example this awesome website, it translates words and text into binary. It can also translate numbers into binary.

The author of the website gives a great definition of what binary is and its purpose.

Check it out and have fun, let your nerd show.

Exciting News!

I have very exciting news to share with you, today Matthew took me to the library!

I love libraries, they are one of my favorite places in the world. No joke, and I got to take home 3 new books and an audio book. I started listening to the audio book and I really like it.

Its called "The loins of Iwo Jima" I love it because there is so much of this battle that I didn't know about that I am now learning, and I have read a book about it before and seen a movie, but none of those depicted what this book brings to life.

It talks about leadership, the mens respect for there leaders and there commitment to the core.

It also gives a lot of information about Iwo Jima that a lot of people didn't know about and the reasons why they wanted to take it.

I can't wait to finish it.
