Everything Has A Name

You have met Prometheus (camera) and Fiona (violin), well I would like you to meet Julius and Tony.

I have this thing where I name objects that I use a lot, that way if I'm looking for something I can just ask my family where Julius is and they will know what I'm talking about. I also think its super fun to names things.

Julius: My Kindle.

And here is what he looks like. Not very atractive I know, but has been the most enjoyable book reading device I have ever used, I spends hours just looking at books. My favorite thing about him is that amazon has SOOOO many free books its crazy, and there is nothing better then free books,

Here is Tony, he is named after Tony Hawk pro staker!! The one I have is the black and white one. I started wave-boarding three years, and I actually broke my wrist falling off of one of these. Which was REALLY painful. But I got up and kept going. I am scared to wave board sometimes because I am afread that I may fall again. Which doesnt help with riding it because you have to concentrate on the ground. One small rock and stop your board and believe me when I tell you, you will keep moving.

CHOCOLATE!!!!

I am not a big fan of chocolate, but for the bast couple months I havent been able to get enough.

I am willing to eat any chocolate, but the thing I'm craving the most is truffles, OH MY!!!! I got these dollers one this past Christmas, and they were SOOOOO!!!!! GOOOOD!!!! And now I want them, but they dont have them! :( So I will have to do with Symphany bars, but the ones witth the almonds and taffee pieces, oh so good!!! Right now I want brownies, but I dont want to have to get up and make them. Because then I would have to clean up after, and I really dont want to do that. So I will have to settle for the symphany bars.

The Lost Arts

I have talked about homemaking before, but I have had an interesting expeirence with homemaking since I last mentioned it.

I like to go on my Kindle and look up books, and if they are free I get them, well I was looking at cooking and sewing books, and I found a good number of books free that were written in 1912, and I talked with my mom and we agreed that I could make a meal from the cook books once a month, I'm excited to get started on this, and see what comes out, and how it tastes.

On tuesday I was babysitting and I was talking with their mom on our way to drop me off and we were talking about cooking and sewing. And she said she wishes that she would have learned at least 40 different recipes, because when she got married she didnt know how to cook. I found this rather interesting because I have talked with a lot of poeple and they could care less about it.
I was really excited to find someone who wishes she learned homemaking skills at a young age.

I will keep you posted about the homemaking foods, maybe you will get pictures ;) of course you will get pictures!! And I'm going to start putting really easy recipes on here too.

First Recipe.

Lemon Peper Shrimp with Linguine (if you dont like shrimp you can use chicken.)

Ingredients
  • 1 (8 ounce) package linguine pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup white wine*
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
*I didn't use white wine, I just used the broth.
~I ate it with grilled veggies.

Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add linguine, and cook for 9 to 13 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  2. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, and saute garlic about 1 minute. Mix in chicken broth, wine, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat, and simmer until liquid is reduced by about 1/2.
  3. Mix shrimp, butter, parsley, and basil into the saucepan. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, until shrimp is opaque. Stir in the cooked linguine, and continue cooking 2 minutes, until well coated.
