Quote of the day!!

I am going to mix it up a bit, I am going to put the definition and then some quotes.

"An emotion of the heart, excited by a favor or benefit received; a sentiment of kindness or good will towards a benefactor; thankfulness. Gratitude is an agreeable emotion, consisting in or accompanied with good will to a benefactor, and a disposition to make a suitable return of benefits or services, or when no return can be made, with a desire to see the benefactor prosperous and happy. Gratitude is a virtue of the highest excellence, as it implies a feeling and generous heart, and a proper sense of duty."
~Noah Websters 1828 Dictionary

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
~Melody Beattie

Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.
John Milton

Quote of the day!! Dec. 11th (today)

Friendship! It is the greatest thing in the world!!!

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”

Quote for the day!! Dec. 10th

Books! I love books, they are my world. If i could I would spend all day at a book store just looking at books and reading books.

“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”

Save your Soul!

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything since Halloween, that was like a month ago. I have been busy. but that's a lame excuse because everyone is busy.

So in My church every 6 months we have this thing called General Conference. Its where leaders of my church come and take with us about many different subjects.

I listened to them, but The Church does a wonderful thing and makes a magazine out off all the talks for us to read again and again. Another cool thing is that they are also on the internet.
Anyway, while I was looking through the magazine I came across a title that made me stop and think.

"What Shall a Man Give in Exchange for His Soul?"

Now I don't want to really talk about the contents of the talk but more the title. I think the title poses a really good point.

What do you think of when you first read it? What word really makes you think?

When I think on this I think of all the things that you can do to distance yourself from others, its when you accept something that would take away what really matters. Being prideful, selfish, lazy, vain, and
Think of the movie Ghost Rider, he sells his soul to the devil to get immortality, and to save is father from cancer, yet his father still dies and he is stuck serving the devil. Now he does do some good, but when the devils calls he has to answer. He chose to give his soul up, but he didn't realize the consequences of  his actions.

Think of it like doing meth, you give up who you are, what you stand for and your soul to meth. One you start meth there is no going back, it is one of the worst drugs, because then your body can't live without it, you have to take pills the rest of your life, that don't make you high or anything but just give you what you exchanged for your soul. You exchange your freedom, you give it up for at the moment you think is better, but its not. Exchanging your soul for worldly things is one of the biggest problems in this era, there are so many people who exchanger their soul for worldly things that don't matter in the long run and in fact harm your soul.

You then become someone else, when you exchange your soul you become attached to the thing you exchange it for, you don't know how to live without it.

Now let me ask you something else, not that we have talked about exchanging your soul.

What shall a man give in exchange for your salvation?

When you think about this you have to make sure you don't come up with anything that would put your soul in jeopardy.
When I think about this question, I think about giving 10 minutes a day to do core book studying, its giving 3 hours every Sunday to the Lords worship. Its not giving into the worldly things that tempt all of us everyday. Its not exchanging your soul, its keeping it and and taking care of it.

Everyone has different beliefs, so just think about what works for yours.

Halloween!!

I was in Provo, Utah for Halloween, and I called my friend up to see if he would like to do anything for Halloween. So I headed to his house and I went to the UVU Hallween dance. The dance its self was fun, but the costumes that other people wear arent so nice. The Girls where wearing more clothing then the GUYS!!!! How can this be?

We will get on to the subject of clothing later. Right now we are talking about Halloween.
So my guy friend Tony and I dressed up as Velma and Shaggy.

I wish we got a full costume shot, but we didn't :(

My cousin and our friend went as mice. They were super cute!!

Little Pumpkins!!

I was bored a couple sundays ago, and family was in town.
As being the month of october, I decided to make a pumpkin!! I will tell you havent ever made on before and was a little hesatent, because I didn't really like the color of the yarn, and I was worried that it would turn out ugly.

But I think it is super cute!!

For the orange yarn I used Peaches and Cream brand.

Hymns, a song of the heart!

This past weekend I stayed at my friends house, on friday night we went to a YSA (Young Single Adult) Dance, it was a lot of fun! Well atleast I thought it was. That night my friend took me to her house, and our guy friend stayed for a bite to eat (even though we got ice cream on the way home.)

Anyway a small  bite turned into two hours of us on the patio (she has a three story house on a hill, and a patio on each lvl.) And sang hymns till 2:30 in the morning. It was such a wonderful and testimony building experience, as we sat on the porch with our backs leaning against one anothers back, staring at the stars, listing to the bugs and the dogs, and just taking in the beauty of the earth. It was truly wonderful!!!

Backstage Pass!

I am in a play!!! I am sooo excited!! Ok so for those who keep asking. Yes I was homeschooled, yes I was in plays, and yes I had friends. Now onto bigger matters.

Each year on of the many homeschool groups caller Pioneer Players puts on a Fall Musical. I have been preforming in these since I was 11, but now that I am 19 I don't really want to hangout and act with a lot of 8-13 year olds (thats the new age group) But I love acting, and it has been driving me crazy for the past 3 years not being able to ack (ok more like 2) I have helped a lot with sets and what not, but its not the same as acting.

So my family (mostly my mom and I) have desided to put a play on. She is the director and I am the producer/costumer/set builder. It has been really exciting!!!

We have done three weeks of practices so far and per are preforming in October, so about 5 weeks left. I am pretty excited!!

Today I tasked myself with acoumplishing somethings and not being lazy, well I was lazy, but only at lunch, and I got a piece of the set made for the play!! Its a bar!! It isnt finished yet, and I will have pictures for you soon. But I am super excited about it, I made it so Its a bar on one side, and then you switch it around its a shelving unit for a different scene. Its pretty cool!!

I ran out of wood, so it doesn't have the shelves or the panneling yet, but it still looks cool!!

Anyway, the play will be awesome and I will keep you updated!!

Garth Nix

Hey peeps!! sorry long time no post. But I have been very busy, and I kinda have had writers block.

I have all these wonderful things to tell you, and I am excited to tell you and I wait all day to write about it. But then when I gat on here, my mind goes blank and I dont feel like writing anymore. It had been very frustrating!!

I am here now, and I will tell you about some of the awesome things that have been going on.

First Garth Nix, if you don't know who he is, thats ok, I didn't either till I started reading his books. He writes horror books for adults. But he also wrote a series for youth that are not horror at all, but really make you think and are very interesting.

The series is called Keys To The Kingdom. It has 7 books, I am curently on book 6, I just finished book 5.  I would recomend them. They can be a little confusing at times, but they are really good. :D

When the Singles Get Together.....

On August 10,11, and 12th I went to a Statewide Young Single Adult Conference.
It was a blast!!!

These are two of my best friends!!

Tammys popsicle was melting soo fast, she had to just kinda shove it in her mouth.

This is my good friend Rene, we switched glasses. What do you think?

Just Keep Swimming!!!

I was asked by the people I nanny if I could take care of their pets while they are gone. I was kinda shocked but very pleased to see that along with the mail key and appartment key they gave me the pool key. Guess where I was for a week? Thats right, the pool. I only ended up going three times, but it was really fun!!!

Do you guys remember that one week where everyday was 90degrees? Well it was that week.

Once only my sister and I went, we want to go again but take the water cameras with us. That would be EPIC!! We would need like 20 camera for that, because we wouldn't want to stop taking pictures!!

Oh did I meantion that they live across from 7/11? Well they do!

Thank you!!

I have reached 133 blog posts (this one makes it 134) and 2013 pages views. I wan't to thank you, the reader for reading my blog. Maybe you don't read it, maybe you glance. But thats ok, I write for you. You are the ones that inspire me. I wan't to someone you look for advice. For guidence. If you wan't me to blog about something spicific just let me know and I will make it happen.

Thank you again!!!!

Spiders!!!

I hate Spiders!! I think there are a few poeple (like my dad) who actually like them. I have had a number of spider encounters just recently.

   1. I walk into the bathroom to use it and I look into the tollet and there is a spider wimming around having a joyice time in my tollet. Thankjully I could just flush it and it would be in spider heaven. But it was big, brown, and creepy!!! I will say it was kinda cool that it was swimming.

   2. If you are walking to my garden (dead at the moment.) and as you pass the slide to the playset there is a GIANT spider to your left, this thing is like 2in with its legs. Here is a close up shot I took today. My dad said I should have gotten close. No why in heck was I EVER going to get closer to this THING!!!

    3. This happened a couple years ago, but I thought it was worthy of a meantion.
We had a tarantula living on our front porch. It was the cutest spider I had ever seen, and it didn't scare me, infact I thought it was pretty AWESOME!! that it lived there. I was looking for a picture but I couldn't find one :(.
Anyway, it never came neer us, it had its little coner and we just left it alone, but one day my aunt showed up and all her kids come in the house, and then we hear screeming coming from outside. We all rished out to see what was wrong. Our little pet was running towards my aunt with its front legs pointed out and it was hissing at her. It was funny, but my aunt didnt think so. I don't think it would have been funny if that happened to me. But still.
After that we had to relocate our little pet somewhere else, I was very sad.

    4. I was around 10 and for science class we needed to catch a spider. So I cought this little spider I found crawling on me. He was small and brown with little spots. I kept him in a jar with some dead grass and a rock. I made sure to  give him a lot of rolli-pollies.
After science class I let him go free outside. But then the next day I found him sitting next to me in the famillyroom. So I stuck him back in the jar, but I didn't feed him, and he soon died.
I cried, at age 10 I cried because I had killed my own spider!!

Ok enough about the creepy spiders, lets move one. To the next post!!

I Know, I know, I know....

I talk a lot about books, and you could say I am a bookaholic. I will read almost anything kind of book you give me (as long as it is with in my standards.)

Just this past week I have finished two somewhat good books.

The first one is called The Last Dragon By Silnana de Mari, Translater by Shaun Whiteside.
I found it kinda boring, and somewhat ill writen. I didn't realize that it was translated and that might be why it sometimes had weird wording and whatnot. The only reason I finished it was because I have a goal, and I wanted to know how it ended.

The second books is called  A Tale Dark And Grimm By Adam Gidwitz
This one was really good, I finished it within two days, so it was a super easy read, and 256 pages. But it was really gross, so I wouldn't reccomed it to anyone who had a weak stomach. I do and it didnt bother me because it was fictional, but it might b a problem for other people.

More book reviews to come!!

Qualities In A Husband

In church a couple weeks ago we talked about the qualities we want in a future husband, and how those are different from others people perspective.

We made a list of what we are looking for, but we also need to apply these qualities to ourselves.
  • Spirituality => Temple Goals
  • Testimony => Sharing
  • Worthy to Accept Priesthood
  • Attraction
  • Caring
  • Humble
  • Forgiving
  • Wants you to Be a Better Person
  • Patience
  • Compassionante
  • Sense of Humor
  • Understanding
  • Wants to Give Service
  • Listener
  • Education/Willing to Learn
When I was little I was always making a list of what I want my husband to look like. I think we all have a list like that, containing how we want to meet, how are first date will be, what color his eyes will be, and so forth. Mine kinda looked like this.

  • Nerdy (doesn't have to have glasses, but is a plus.)
  • Blond
  • Blue eyes
  • Walks in on a hourse
  • Takes me to a castle
  • Funny
  • Muscular
  • Not to Tall, but Not to Short.
Well I can't think of anything else to for my list, but you get the general idea. Think about your list and what you really want in a husband. If you already have one, love him, and let him know you do.

I have a Quest!!

I was reading my friends blog and she talked about how she buys odd mugs from thrift stores and wherenot. And has a collection of just a whole bunch of odd or weird mugs. I think this is AWESOME!! I want my cupboard to be full of weird mugs. Just think about it.

You don't have any other glasses, you only have a whole lot of one of a kind mugs that you have collected over the years from different thrift stores!! I want to start now!! But I have a problem. I don't have a place to put all these cool mugs, I don't have a way of storing them. So if I come across a mug that I can't live without, I will get it. But if it is one that just looks cool, but is one I don't have to have, I wont get it.

Now I am on a quest, a quest to find AWESOME mugs!!!

Return 4, take home 9!

My sister and I rode our bikes to the library on tuesday, I love riding my bike and I love library's, so it was the best of my two favorite things.

I went to the library with 4 books, and I meant to come home with 2-3, I came home with 9!! NINE books I tell you. my bag was small and it bearly fit.

When people ask me if I like to read I say "I live and breathe books!!" which is a very true statment in sooo many ways. I think I have a book recomenddation for every mood, and every personality. It really bothers me when someone says they don't like to read. I just don't understand how they can not like to read! I love it! I adore reading!

When someone tells my they don't like to read, my respons is always "You just haven't found a book good enough to read yet."

I didn't start reading till I was 9, and I didn't like to read. It wasn't intell I found a book that I was really interested in that I started to love reading. Its funny my mom says "first I couldn't get her to read, not I can't get her to stop reading."

A lot of my friends think I am crazy because I read sooo much, right now I believe I am reading 6-8 books all at the sametime. Sometimes I want to read one book and then the next day I want to read a different one. So it depends on my mood which book I pick up.

Some of you may know that I have a goal to read 50 books by the end of the year, right now I am at like 23 books. So I have 22 left to go. I can do it!! I will do it!!

I am super excited to share my love of reading with you! Thanks!

Who would have thought?

Emo, to girly girl, who would have thougtht?
Three years ago I was borderline Emo (I didn't do all the weird emo things like cutting, or drugs.), I wore skinny jeans in weird colors, I listened to screamo (still do a little bit), I always had my hair in my face, and I wore a hoodie, even if it was hot outside. If you looked at me then, you wouldnt see the woman I am now.

Then: I wore black and a lot of it, I wore dark heavy blue eye shadow, even black, across the whole lid. I wore eyeliner everywhere I went, even if it was just to get the mail.
My clothes may have told you I was Emo, but I wasn't, yeah sure there were times that I was sad and deppressed, but everyone has those moments. I was the happiest Emo ever!!

Now: I wear blue jeans and t-shirts, flowery off white or pink blouses. Sometimes just jeans and t-shirts, but I try harder to look like a girl and not so much a Tomboy.

I am still a Tomboy at heart even if my clothes don't show it. I still love to play sports, hang with the guys, and play video games. But sometimes its nice to look nice and feel pretty. :D

You may Be Wondering....

....Why I changed my blog title.

Its quite simple, my father (not blaming him in anyway, shape, or form.) informed me that it would be to confusing for people if I had a blog with the title of my business that had noting to do with my buisness, this is a very true statement, that is why I have changed the name of this one, and created a new blog for just my business.

If you are interested in my buisness check it out here www.aribboninmyhair.blogspot.com or go to face book and type in the search bar A Ribbon In My Hair, it should come up with something, if not go the the  blog and click on the link there.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my blog!! I enjoy you reading it!!!! :D

If you only had one year...

I started reading a book called Deadline, I don't know the auther sorry. But its a good easy read (I only got to chapter 4 or 5) but I have to worn you there is a lot of swearing. The premise of the book is talking about a boy who has a year left to live.

I asked my family if they only had one year to live, what they would do.
Some sat in thought, others said sky diving, bunji jumping.

What would you do? Would you marry your BF or GF, would you think more on your education, or party the nights away. How would you want to be remembered? What would you want your legacy to be?

Would you want to be known as the slut that never accouplished anything, or the nerd that no one remembers from school? The know it all jock that picked on the younger little kids? How would you want to be remebered?

How do you want people to say your name, with discust? Hatered? Anger? Pitty? Sadness?

There is a country song by Tim McGraw called Live Like You Were Dying.

"He said
"I was in my early forties
With a lot of life before me
And a moment came that stopped me on a dime
I spent most of the next days
Looking at the x-rays
Talkin' 'bout the options
And talkin' 'bout sweet time"
I asked him
"When it sank in
That this might really be the real end
How's it hit you
When you get that kind of news?
Man, what'd you do?"

He said
"I went skydiving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying"
And he said
"Someday I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dying"

He said
"I was finally the husband
That most of the time I wasn't
And I became a friend a friend would like to have
And all of a sudden going fishin'
Wasn't such an imposition
And I went three times that year I lost my dad
I finally read the Good Book, and I
Took a good, long, hard look
At what I'd do if I could do it all again
And then

I went skydiving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Blue Manchu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying"
And he said
"Someday I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dying
Like tomorrow was a gift
And you've got eternity
To think about
What you'd do with it
What could you do with it
What did I do with it?
What would I do with it?

Skydiving
I went Rocky mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Blue Manchu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I watched an eagle as it was flying"
And he said
"Someday I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying""

I just love the messege of this song. But don't wait till your dying to live your life, live it now, don't wait for something to happen to know what you were meant to do.

Crafts

Sorry peeps for my last post, it was kinda weird, not going to lie.
Anyway. I have been sitting at the computer here at my cousins (they are cleaning and doing chores, and I can't really help with that, well I did do the dishes.) and I want to do something, but I don't know what, I kinda want to go shopping, but I dont have the money for that. I kinda want to sew, but I don't have the supplies for it. Do you know what it is like for a seamstress not to be able to sew? its maddening.
Sooo I decided to blog for a bit, because that is something I can do, and I think I'm pretty good at.

Well I did find my cousins box of yarn and so I ran to Wal-Mart and got a crochet hook. Here are the cool hats I made.

I had fun, I wanted to bring yarn and stuff with me, but I took my bag on as a carry on, so I couldn't bring the crochet hooks, I was soooo very happy to find my cousins. I even showed one of them how to, well she new how to she was just having trouble with it. But now she is fine.

I made two flowers and I was just thinking that I should make more, so I think that's what I am going to go do.

So my cousins and I have been going through a crafting spree, and well we have been going to Pinterest for inspiration. We have done the melting crayons, and even tried it in the hot glue gun, that doesn't work, they just broke, but it was a cool idea. My other cousin did the mason jars wrapped in twine, and they are super cute, bonus was the twine only cost $1.80 because it was 10c a yard, at Wal-mart. I got some trims and such, but I can't do mine till I get home, unless I sent a package home, and I don't really want to do that. But I'm super excited to get home and do a lot of crafts, after I get my room clean that is :/

It has been sooo much fun in Tennessee I don't want to go home.

A Little Bit of Crazyness!!

Right now I am in the great State of Tennessee!!! I left wednesday morning 7am, and got here at 5:30pm. Such a crazy day, but I am soooo happy to be here with my cuzs!!

Today we took some kids my cuz is watching to the park, I have never had sooo much fun at a park. We played Lava Monster, and I beat my 16 yearold cuz at the monkeybars. Hahhahah that was funny!! We went down slides and climbed latters. Anyway, the whole point I am here is to go to the family Reunion next weekend. But I came a week early because I wanted to spend as much time as I can with my cusins and their family.

Later on in the day we took the kids to a baseball game, I'm still decideding if that was a good idea or a bad one, they kids were crazy, we even lost one at one point, because she went off o the bathroom without telling us. But it was also a good idea because then when we got home they were all so tired they went straight to bed. And lastnight they didn't.

Well gtg it late here, and we have a busy day tomorrow. Goodnight!

P.S. we made amazing Zuchini Bread!!!

Pie!!

Its a common thought at my house, we LOVE pie!!

If there is a game and it asks us for a word it will be Pie!! All pigs eat pie, accourding to our family. (kinda a inside joke.)

We have a Pie for more then one Holliday.
There are the tradional Thanksgiving pies:
Pumpkin
Banana Cream
Pear
Apple
Peacon
Coconut Cream

There is the 4th of July pie:
Rhubarb, just plane rhubarb no strawberries or anything.

We have our specal ocation pies:
Lemon
Key Lime

and I think thats it. But we love pies, really we do.

I made my first pie two years ago, it turned out perfect!! I was sooo happy, it was Banana Cream. My aunt was telling me I was making it wrong, when I knew I wasn't. So after I made mine, she went and made a Coconut cream pie, but it didn't turn out right, I was a nice neice and laughed at her. :D We joke about it now.

I hope to be able to make all sorts of pies and I hope they turn out just like my moms!!!

Pinteresting

Everbody who is anyone is doing it!! A common saying when it comes to pinterest.

For a long time I didn't want to get an acount, the main reason? Because it seemed like everyone else was getting one. I have this stubarn thing where if a group of people aredoing it, I won't, just because they are. But finally I got one, and..... I haven't been able to stay away.

That is one of the main reasons I didn't wan't it. I didn't want another thing to ocupy my procrastnation time. I have Facebook after all. Anyway, the main reason for the post is because I spent basicly my whole day on it, and I got almost nothing done, it doesnt help that I'm sick, so doing things was out of the question anyway. But I did plan on getting more done then I did. But we shall talk about that later.
So here is what was going through my brain....
Creative juices flowing through brain, don't know what to do......
Go to pinterest to get ideas.......
Find something unrelated and pin it.....
Leads to more pins pinned......
Three hours later and the juice is still flowing.....
But I still have no idea what to create.......
Back to pinterest....

And that was my day in a nut shell.
I love pinterest, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I wish I had a real pin board so I could just look at from my room, and not have to travel to the other side of the house to look at it. Sigh, someday I will have one. But for now there is Pinterest.

Quilt by Hand

My mom was teaching a quilting class, all of the fabric was recreated Civil War fabric, and each block is designed after the quilt blocks in this book. http://www.amazon.com/The-Civil-War-Diary-Quilt/dp/0873499956/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341682668&sr=8-1&keywords=civil+war+diary+quilt

All the quilting is done by hand, so it has taken me three years to get 26 blocks done. I need 100, it is going to take me awhile.

A lot of people think quilting is a chore, I love it. I love to see the blocks formed and finished. I am curently working on one called Dark Gloom, the picture in the book shows purple and black, but I am doing mine purple, orange, and blue.

These quilt blocks are the ones that I have finished, I have around 10 cut out that just need to be sewn.

The blue, yellow, and red one is the lasteed one I did.

Its interesting because more people like to do the ones with big shapes becasue they say it takes a shorter amount of time, but I like to do the ones that have little bitty pieces, they give me more of a challenge and I think they take a shorter amount of time then the big ones.

I'll keep you updated.

The Giver

Has anyone ever read The Giver? Well on thursday I had babysitting and I finished the book I brought with me, and the kids were asleep and I noticed that The Giver was sitting on the book shelf, and my parents have read it plus a lot of my friends, but being as stuburn as I am, I told myself that I wasnt going to read it, because everyone was telling me I should.

Well I picked it up and then I couldnt put it down, it is good, kinda confusing though. It reminds me of A Wrinkel In Time, if you havent read that book, you should!!

I was talking with my mom about it, and I havent finished it, but once I'm done on here I'm going to go finish it. It really makes you think, I don't want to give anything away, because you should read it!

Its interesting because I read the 2nd book first, not realizing at the time that it was the 2nd book, I wasn't confused at all because it kinda stands on its own. Now I will have to read it again though, because it might make it more clear as far as the background.

I'm excited to finish it, I wan't to have a discussion on it, its very educational!

READ IT!!!

A Night Out!!

On Friday the 29th I went to the beach for my sisters friends birthday. It was ok, I'm not a big fan of water, if thre was a way to enjoy water without being wet, that would be the way for me to go. But I did end up in the water because  my little sister wanted to play.

Later that night I went out with my guy friend and his shop to dinner, it was fun, there was drinking, but I didnt particapate in it, as I don't drink. We went out because about half the shop is getting deployed and they wanted to celabrate there going away. It was kinda sad though, one family has a 6month old, and both parents are getting deployed so the baby is going to be living with relitives till they get back. I felt sorry for the mom, that would kill me to be gone that much.

After dinner, we went and played pool at a place across the street. My friends and his date wanted to hang out longer so me and my date tagged along, not that we had a choice, he drove us. It was fun, though the place we went was alittle creepy, it felt like a place you would go to buy sex, it was weird. But I had fun.

I never realized the muscels you use in playing pool, my shoulders are pretty messed up so everytime I had to go, it felt like my shoulder was getting ripped out of the socket, it was really painful. But I still had fun. It also seemed like everytime it was my turn the ball was in the middle of the table, and being short, I couldn't reach it.

Afterwards we had to drop off my freinds date, so I got home around Midnight, which isnt unusal for me. All in all, a good night.

It was  blast, but I swear it was like 90 degrees. It was SOOOOOO hot!!!

I love feeding the birds, but they tend to pee on you, so I gave my necter to my sis, and I took the pictures while she got peeded on :D I'm such a nice sister.

I was soo happy to get a picture on this rino statue, usally there are people all over it and you can't ever get a piture, but this time it was open!

For the younger readers.

My father has been wanting me to start a new blog centered on good books for Yopung Adults. I think its a good idea, but I have enough trouble keeping one blog up dated, and I don't think I could do two. But I did tell him I post about books, which is what I'm doing now.

I have been going crazy at the Library, getting 10+ books at atime, only reading 3 or 4, but getting that many so I can fit the book to my mood.

I am 19 and I read Young Adult books.

Your probably thinking "why does she do that? they are too easy." or something along those lines. Its because the young adult books are safer to read then say picking up a random book, though I have ancountered bad/immoral books at random.

Here is a list of books young adults should read.

Eragon (the whole series)
Goose Girl
The Dragon Slippers
Leven Thumps
The Sisters Grimm
Over Sea, Under Stone
Percy Jackson
Kane Cronicles
Fableheaven
Hunger Games (kinda grusome though)
Entwined
Ella Enchated
Fairest

This list is kinda small, but it gives you something to branch off of. This are all really good books. Some have a lot in the series though. Just saying

Here are some books series I just started.

The Queen's Thief Series
Keys to the Kingdom Series
Dragonlance - Dragons of Autumn Twilight
The Search for WondLa

I have either read, or I am in the midts of reading the first book.

I recently read a book called Green Angle, it was really depressing, as I knew it would be, so I would suggest that if you want to read it, you need to be strong and not get depressed yourself. I did, but I was able to snap out of it.
It was the first depressing book I have ever read. And it was kinda scary too.
But go ahead and read it if you want.

Books are everywhere, and there are some people who dont like to read, but I say to them, you just havent found the right book yet. If you dont like to read, then Find I book that makes you want to read, some books arent for everyone. So find the ones that are for you.

Inspiring Greatness!!!

For awhile now I have been struggling with a paper on Inspiring Greatness in Others.

How do you Inpire Greatness?
First you need to know what greatness it.

If you really want to study greatness just go to etymonline.com It is a wonderful site that I get almost all my info from, it shows you the root words and meanings.

Anyway, so basicly greatness links to these other words.
Virtue
Wisdom
and Courage

To be really great you need to show these traits. You need to show the world what these traits me to you.

Virtue- Moraly clean, freeman, courage, and hero.

In this time area we usally only use the word virtue to mean moraly clean. But it also means faith, and action. It mean that you put action behind you faith and stand up for what you believe. It means having integirty and knowlege. It means knowing who you really are. When you really study Virtue you learn who you need to be.

Wisdom- power, self contole, and vitue.

A lot of people dont understand the difference between wisdom and knowledge, it is very hard to explain, there is a very fine line. The difference is God, knowledge doesnt have God in it, its just a whole lot of facts and info in a brain. Where as Wisdom is knowing the difference between right and wrong, its knowing God and how to you the knowledge you have to help him.

Wisdom is defined in the 1828 dictionary as such
"the right use or exercise of knowledge: the choice of laundable ends, and the best means to accomplish them."

Laundable- Honorable acts.

Courage- heart, temper, hero, and comfort.

This has such a broad deffinition its crazy. Each of the words listed right above have 10-15 words branching off of them, and then those words have 5-6 each. it looks like a very big tree when you draw it. Anyway.

Courage is standing up for something, that we all understand, that I think is what everone defines courage as. I asked my friends what they thought of courage, or what their deffintions are.

"The abillity to do something even if your afraid to do it."

"Courage is when you stand up for what is right even if nobody else will stand with you."

Greatness is in its self great, when you think about all the things that play into greatness you realize that you truely have to be a great person to be great, you have to have the courage to do something great, with the vitue and wisdom standing behind your actions and thoughts.

"Let us consider the nature of true greatness in men. The people who can catch hold of men's minds and feelings and inspire them to do things bigger than themselvers are the people who are remembered in history....those who stir feeling and imagination and make men stuggle towards perfection."

Delayed Greatness

I was just writing a friend and she was taling about how she failed do do something and I responded that you didnt fail, you just Delayed Greatness.
It cought me by suprise, I have felt like a big failure recently, and I havent known what to do. But when I was talking with my friend, it kinda hit me that even if I didnt do whatever it was on time, or in order or if I felt like I failed. I didnt fail I just Delayed Greatness.

I want to try something, right now, right here tell yourself you have failed, it doenst matter what it is, and maybe you are already telling yourself that for something else that happened.
Are you telling yourself yet? Good.

Now I want you to tell yourself that you didnt fail, you just Delayed Greatness.
Now how do you feel? better? worse? I hope you feel better, I felt better.

I don't know about you, but when I tell myself I have failed I usally stop what I am doing to go cry in the corner, or I become depressed. Well if everytime you felt like you have failed don't say failed say "I have Delayed Greatness." Don't stop what you are doing, keep going, become great!!

Fashion #4

My mom made me this top when I was 13, I found it while going through some old costume box's. I tried it on and it fit. I have been wearing it to a lot of things, like the dance last Friday. The sleeves are super short on me, so I just push them up to my elbows, but I like it anyway.

I have this American Indian necklace I got in Silverton. I have only worn it once, but as I was getting ready for the dance I realized that I could wear it with this top.
The second necklace is just a bird in a bird cage, which I have always wanted so I was happy to find one at Pink Zone.

Till the next outfit!

Shopping!

On saturday I went shopping with my friend, and I had a goal of $40 to spend. I only spent $31. I was so proud of myself.

I went to Kohls first, because I had a Kohls cash and a 15% off everything card.
I got this shirt and two tank tops for $10
I have always wanted a shirt with the multi layered ruffle thing, and this one was on sale, so I had to get it, and I loved the color.

Then I went to Fashion Sense which is just down the street from Kohls. I hadn't ever bought anything from there but I saw this top in the clearence rack, and well it was only $8 so I had to get it.

I just love it! It is a shear so I have to wear a shirt underneath it, but thats ok. I am not the type of person to buy frilly girly shirts, but this one was not too girly so I got it. And I knew my mom would like it.

Next I saw a blue blouce that I like soooo much, but it didnt look right one me (I tried it on.) But next to it was this top. And it was $13 and I hadnt ever spent that much on a top, but it was worth it. I still wasnt sure after I tried it on, but since it was modest I thought I might as well get it.
Sorry the pictures are soo bad.

I can't wait to wear my new clothes!!

Fashion #3

I love this outfit, and I wear it alot, which I dont know if thats a good thing or bad thing.

I dont know where I got the shirt but its my fav church shirt.
The skirt I made about a year ago.

The skirt is hanging funny because I had to pin it to the shirt.
I usally wear it with red heels, or my black strappy heels.

Fashion Post #2

I have this bad habit of wearing somthing really cute and then not taking a picture of it, and I know I would post more fashion posts, so I decided I would just take a picture of the outfit and that would count.

I got this dress at Dress Barn, and my mother had a gift card so I didn't have to spend anything!!
I wore it on sunday, I curled my hair, wore red shoes, and a double strand of pearls.

I told my mom I felt like I had walked out of a 40's black and white movie. One of my guy friends told me a looked really nice, and that I made the right choice to wear it.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!

So there is a BBC show called Merlin. And It is Just AMAZING!!!
You can watch the first 3 seasons on Netflix. But then you have to wait for the next two to come out.
The Acters are just out of school, and some this is their first big thing. You would think that it would be cheesy then, but its not, ok there are a few places that are but only acouple.

This is Arthur Pendragon, isnt he just a hottie? I think he is.
He is played by Bradley James

This is the cute (not quite hot) Merlin, he is a really good acter, and plays the part perfectly.
He is played by Colin Morgan

I would recommend this to a family, but there can be some gross parts, so watch atyour own risk. But it is very funny, and no swearing.

I'm Such A....

NERD!!!

I really am. I was at a activity on Saturday and the whole time I was with my guy friends and we talked about
  • The Avengers
  • Batman
  • Marvel
  • Doctor Who
  • Comic-con
  • Star Wars
  • Fav Acters (from LOTR and Marvel movies)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
It was just crazy, but I hadn't felt like myself in so long I forgot what it was like to not care that people thought I was nerdy.

In High School I was the one girl in the group of nerdy kinda outcast guys, and I loved it, thats who I got along with the best. Thats where I could feel like I didn't have to watch my nerd talk, I could express myself without getting weird looks, or people moving away.

I felt free!! I felt Alive!!! I felt wonderful!!
I know now for a fact that I will always be a nerd and no one can change that, and I'm proud to be a nerd. I love it!!!

I recently went to a Magic the Gathering party (yes thats how nerdy I am) and that was a little scary I have to addmit. It was like an over load of nerdyness, sence I hadn't been around it for awhile. But it was still a blast. I cam in at 7th out of 8. So not to bad for my first Magic Party.

My nerdness will soon be through the roof. I got some SUPER cool awesome fabric!! But I'm not going to tell you what it looks like and what I will be making. :P Heheheehe......

Here we are waiting in line for the opening of Avengers!!!
We waited in line for 12 hours!

BTW we had matching shirts!! Yep thats how cool we are!!

Oh it became SUPER cold by 4pm or 5pm.
My mom stopped by and dropped off somme blankets.

And here is our final wait in line for the coolest movie and awesomest movie of the year!!!!!!!!!!

Check this out!!
This is my tooth brush, it lights up for 1min so you can time yourself while brushing your teeth!!! and ITS A LIGHTSABER!!!!

Ok ttyl, till my next post!

The Lost Arts

I was talking with a guy friend and we were talking about work, and I mentioned that I run an at home buisness. He asked me what I did and his reply was. "Oh you mean like the Lost Arts?" (I can't remeber his precies words, but that close enough.)

"Yeah those."
"Well thats cool, so do I. I am a carpenter, I carve with my hands."

I have never thought of that as a Lost Art, but it is. You don't see many handmade things, and when you do its very rare.

Well this post is for the Lost Arts.
  • Cooking
  • Sewing
  • Carpentry
As you well know, I love sewing and cooking, and I post pictures and whatnot to inspire you, and to make you think I am trying to be better then you, I just I'm proud that I was able to make something and that it tunred out nice.

If you haven't ever sewn before, do get made that your line isnt straight, and don't compare either, some people are born wih the gifts of sewing and cooking while other hafe to work harder to accomplish the same thing. And maybe the person who is sitting next you has been sewing for years.

I was doing the dishes the other day and I was looking outside the window thinking of that what if's.
  • What if we were bombed tomorrow, what Lost Arts do I have that would be handy?
  • What if the people who didnt know how to cook were the first ones to die, how many peole would be left?
Now I'm not doing this to scare you, but more to get your brain working.
When I was out a kichen for 8 months, I leaned how to cook on an open fire (its a grill) and I learned a lot. If you want to make cookies only turn one burner on and on low, then put your cookie sheet on the other side and close the lid, it works just like an oven.

I was thinking of those who don't know how to cook, I think it woul be benafial to all to just know the basics. Like:
  • How to cook an egg (Its true, some people dont know how.)
  • What the difference between a watermelon and a honeydue are.
  • How to make even the most basic of breads. It doesnt need to be perfect the first time. My mom has been cooking for years and she will even burn it sometimes.
  • How to make a chicken and broth soup.
These are sad facts that some people don't know.

Someone who isnt the best cook could be someone who is a born leader, and they may feel like right now isnt the time to be spending in the kitchen cooking bread, but now is the time to learn incase something happens and you need just those skills.

Some people think cooking and sewing are hard, and yes they can be, but it doesn't have to be. Most people say they can't before they even try. They set themselves up to fail without even looking at it, or seeing if they can. Because they are sceared that they might fail.

The biggest problem with this generation is the lack of recpect and confidence. Its really sad.

"Dear God,
Please untie the knots
That are in my mind,
My heart and life.

Remove the have nots,
The cannots and the do nots.
Erase the will nots,
May nots,
Might nots that may find
A home in my heart.

Release me from the could nots,
Would nots and
Should nots that obstruct mylife.

And most of all,
Dear God
I ask that you remove from my mind,
My heart, and my life all of the  "amnots"
That I have allowed to hold me back,
Especially the thought
That I am not good enough.

Amen"

I just LOVE thes poem, no idea who wrote it, but I got it in school, and I hang it on my wall to remind me of who I am.

If everyoone read this and acted on it, how many more people would we have just trying out the Lost Arts? So many poeple wont even try, if they don't try then how do they know they aren't any good?

If you are one of the people who are to scared to even just try, read this poem, and think, how much can you grow and learn by just trying?

All you have to do is try. Don't be scared, there is no point, it is just keeping you from greatness.

 Good luck!!

A Little White Lie.

I was talking with a friend on saturday and we were talking about Whte Lies.
He said that it shouldn't matter if we are embarrassed ny our mistake or upset or whatever, it should be the reason to lie. A lot of people think that just because its a little lie its not bad, but any little lie can get out of hand, and soon you will be lying about big things.

     Example:
My dad asks the kids who took a tool of his out. Lets just say I did it and I say no, my bro did it. When for a fact I knew it was me. But its just a White Lie right?
Next week you leave a super expensive tool out in the rain, and your dad asks you again and yet again you say it wasn't you. And soon you can hear your sister crying and get grounded for leaving it out, but you know she didnt do it.

If we keep white lies up then you will start lying without even noticing it.

Its the same with bending the truth. Say you get in a fight with someone, and your telling someone and you're like "Well she said that my mom was stupid!! and then she pulled my hair!!" when in fact she might have just yelled and yeah she might have saud that about your mom, but she didnt touch your hair. You are lying.
Just like when I am talling a story and I add a line or say something just a little off.

When I was 10 I was joking around with my mom and I told her I had kissed this boy I liked (thinking she wouldn'd care, or could tell it was a joke.) Well she called my aunt and told her, and she was wanting me to tell her all the details, so I came up with a story. But that night I couldn't sleep because I had lied and it spread out of control. That next morning I wote a note to my mom and told her what had happened and that I didnt think it would have gotten so big. I was sooo upset, and my mom was a little too, because she had believed me. I dont think I have ever felt so bad.

At my house lying is the biggest crime in the world, if you lie you could be grounded from everything for weeks, or she wont talk to you for days. But I love my mom and she had tought us that being honest is the best thing ever. And I love her for that. She has tought me to be pure in heart.

(Now don't go around telling people that their pants make their butts look big, thats just mean. :D )

My goal!

Ya'll know about my book goal right?

Well do you think that listening to a book is cheating if I'm trying to read 50 books by the end of the year? I think it is, but my fam says its not. I think that if I read all of them it will be a bigger challenge then just listening to them, though I have more time to do other things of importence if I listen, because I can sew while listening, but not reading. What do you think?

I have reached 15 books, and I am in the middle of like 7 books I think, and I'm about to start a whole new series (which I'm super excited about!!!)

I was trying to figure out how to choose the next set of books to read without buying them, and I have an amazon acount, but I don't buy any books, but I like to have the wishlist so I can keep track of books I want to read (I have done the whole make a list thing, and I always lose the list :( .)

So I went to the end of the list and started at the very bottom and I'm making my way up. And I just got three books on CD, but I think I will return them and get the real book.

Keep you posted!!!
